Rubellite & 18ct White Gold Stud Earrings
A striking pair of cushion cut rubellites elevated within tailored 18ct white gold jackets, with post and scroll fittings. Handcrafted in England.
Can be worn with the rubellite silver and diamond bangle as a set. Rubellite means ‘red’ in Latin and its intense pink hue is the most desired and valuable of all tourmaline. Tourmaline has been known since antiquity in the Mediterranean region; the Dutch imported it in 1703 from Sri Lanka to Western and Central Europe.
They gave the new gems a Sinhalese name ‘Turamali’ which is thought to mean ‘stone with mixed colours’. Indeed, tourmaline, is the only gemstone to come in every shade of colour.
